Hello WG, welcome to another Sanji topic of mine. Hope you guys have a great day and enjoy.:sweat:

A lot of people wanted Sanji this chapter to do the generic "I would rather die than talk" cool guy line.

But that's Pre-Timeskip Sanji

Sanji didn't wanna die a senseless death just because of his belief of not hurting a woman.
He had his friends that allowed him to keep his belief without dying.
That's what Strawhats do, they cover each other weaknesses.

That's why he trusted Robin can handle this for him as he tries to save his own life so that he could go do something else.

Captain Hague from Fire Force explains this well.

If Sanji were about to die, then who will protect the Strawhats crew then? The main role of Sanji is to saves the weak. Now it's the other Strawhats' turn to save Sanji this time.

Characters that have no idea about Sanji's belief, think that a man calling for woman's help is pathetic and "unmanly" (notice how these characters get beat by Sanji easy).

While character like Marco thinks otherwise.

And of course the character that is affected by Sanji's actions the most- Robin, is the happiest we've ever seen her be and that's thanks to Sanji's actions.

So if Robin is happy that Sanji did this, I don't think anyone else's opinion matters on this matter.

Sanji isn't trying to be the generic cool guy like Zoro that would rather die than ask for help.
Sanji's actions are cool if you understand his character arc.

Sanji calling to Robin for help is great because it just reinforces that part of the reason the Strawhats’ side will succeed is genuine trust, friendship, and bonds.

Saying Sanji's character got ruined is just false if you know his character and what happened to him.

If you are saying that you didn't want Sanji to encounter females, that's alright.
But that doesn't mean the character got ruined, it just means you don't like the plot that Oda wrote. But Sanji's character's progression was good this chapter whether you like it or not.:kayneshrug:

That's all for now, peace out.

Edit: Credits to the author on Reddit for good work. Preciated it.

Ok man, I understand that you wanna defend Sanji but hear me out.

Sanji has been trusting his crewmates since before TS, as showed with Usopp and Nami in EL in particular.
After TS, it was showed again with Zoro in PH.

It was only in Zou/Totto Land that his trust in his nakama wavered in face off hardships, his trauma etc...

BUT that side of waverness of his was resolved within the arc, as how he trusted Luffy to beat the undefeated legend that was Katakuri. After that, he also trusted that Luffy's defeat by Kaido's hands was not serious/that his captain could survive on his own and focused on the task assigned to him by Kin'emon.

Sanji already got this kind of development you spoke of after Totto Land. The actions he took this chapter was a correct one but that doesn't mean it's a development.

And he is at fault for being captured by enemies way weaker than him. It's a fact. And I don't need to bring evidences to prove it.

So actual character development would’ve been for Sanji to stop being a raging sexist with a massive simp complex instead of clinging to outdated values from the 8th century BC.

Notice how the panel of Jinbe, the most mature crew member noting Sanji’s fuckup is conveniently missing from this, uh, ‘analysis’. More like damage control and mental gymnastics to try and justify how pathetic it is for Sanji to once again get another crewmate to solve his problems. Make that two because instead of just one person holding off Black Maria, they had to send Brook as well, preventing him from helping out elsewhere.

Nice work, loser. Once again proving his father and brothers right.

Yes....

Sanji shows trust in others before. It's a repetitive plot. It's not a character regression. Point is that people started to question Sanji's loyalty when he kicks Luffy in the face and then he trusted Luffy to take down Katakuri later like you said. His action was justify but it doesn't mean that Sanji didn't gain anything from it.

So when Zoro get captured by fodders in Fishman Island, it's Zoro's fault then? Sanji didn't know it was a trap and a woman is about to get rape. Sanji just follow his own conscience and instinct to do what he must. Unfortunately he fall for it.
Pointless thread overall.
So nothing to say at all?

That's his character. Always has been. Don't know why people are so confused about this.

Jinbei just talks about why Sanji is leaking the information, he didn't know that Sanji got captured by a female enemies. The most mature member here is Nami since she instantly knew that Sanji got captured by a female enemy. So Zoro asking for help is bad? Luffy asking for help is bad? Usopp asking for help is bad as well? Brook and Robin are supposed go on the next level, not staying down in the dome and doing nothing. If you want Robin and Brook staying in the background and being useless then go ahead. We're in the middle of a war and there's literally NO WAY that Robin and Brook wouldn't get in trouble. And beside, everybody have their own fights so why not Robin and Brook? Does Sanji need to protect them again?
Nice work, loser. Once again proving his father and brothers right.
Yeah right.

> Two shots Page One and he was gone for two weeks even though he's a Ancient Zoan.
> Shogun Franky (strongest form) struggled against Full Zoan form Sasaki (weakest form).

Ok...
The fact that Shogun Franky, which is stronger than Judge's son without daddy suit and probably on par with Judge's son using daddy suit, still struggling against Sasaki's weakest form..
It doesn't help but actually contradicts your claim that Judge's son can beat Sasaki easy, genius.

after the recent showing of f6 where lord pica stands?
Above healthy Jack, let alone injured, bandaged, broken tusk Jack.

Do the math here, Sanji is gonna beat a Calamity(s) and Franky will beat Sasaki. Exactly.

Man this isn't WCI anymore, why even brought the whole "people [questioning] Sanji's loyalty" here? This type of development is done. You made a poll which askes if Sanji got a good character developement this chapter, to which I said no and explained why.

Yes it's his fault for not being able to breath underwater, you're happy now? :seriously:
Not even comparable, Zoro stayed back to defend his friends and Neptune, and he succeeded in defeating the main thead, created an opportunity for them to escape the place. It's only because of PIS and the power of drugs that Hody managed to catch them, and he did so with help of his fodders who ARE ABLE TO BREATH UNDERWATER. And then Zoro got out of that situation by himself with the available means to him.

In Sanji's case, he had the means to do it, RS, HM, Sky Walk, whatever you name it. AND HE WAS FREE, then beat every males in that room, BUT got caught again by people weaker than him while he had the means and power to not be caught. :seriously:

Man I thought I didn't need to say why it's his fault but well who'd have thought :josad:

The point is that people saying Sanji's character got regressed while he DIDN'T. Sanji got developed back to back. It's being repetitive.

Again, Zoro already one shotted Hody underwater and he can also do tornado attack against the fodders but he didn't. Exactly, it's PIS that Zoro and others got captured just like Sanji in the first place. Sanji could have just use DJ to burn the webs or use the RS to escape but he didn't because of how garbage Oda is when it comes to writing. Oda have to use excuses to stall Sanji back and dragging the plot out. It's not Sanji's fault but rather Oda's fault for not being able to create a better scenario than this.
