What about frreing the Country of his friend were the people are worked to death and are starving to the point that mothers are forced to kill there newborns to spare them from this never ending despair; rather than babysite some weaklings that should have been killed long ago in the New World, survival of the fittest.
The possibilities are 3:
- Its something "forced by the plot" because Luffy must defeat the villains. With WB at least Oda tried some excuses. He didnt with Shanks.
- Shanks knew about Toki's prophecy because he knows about the Dawn that Luffy will bring,so he knew things "had to go this way". This could also be a reason why he refused Buggy's offer to take the sea together right after Roger's death. He knew it would have been too soon to get to the One Piece,because Luffy is pivotal to get to Laugh Tale
- Shanks is evil

Not revenge though, a rescue mission. Apparently he thought that Momo and Hiyori were still alive. Babies that sailed with him on the same ship and the kids of the friend he said he’d do anything for.
Yet he let them suffer under Kaido since he became a Yonko.
It was simply a bad move from Oda to throw that in there and still try to have Shanks act all self-righteous.

I for sure think the some great pirates of the world really failed Roger with the whole Ace situation. Shanks should have been there in marineford even with Kaido trying to interfere. Silvers too should have been there. I mean we are talking about the precious child of your former captain. Even more the fact that both of these mafakas knew Ace could be the child of prophecy.

Meanwhile Kaido killed Oden and Lhanks did jack shit about it.
Like Luffy didn’t even know Oden. But the dude was literally Shanks’s nakama. Kaido murdered him and Shanks did absolutely nothing.

we know for a FACT that Kaido lost at least 1 battle to a Yonko
we know for a FACT that Kaido haven't seen Whitebeard and Big Mom for nearly 20 years
we know for a FACT that there is no unknown Yonko left thanks to Ace Novel
we know for a FACT Kaido for whatever reason respect Shanks equally to like of Xebec and Roger
do the math. it's so simple. you barely need 2 brain cells to solve this
