There is no explanation, those two fruit are just special. There might be an explanation but there don't need to be. Fruit are the result of human imaginations, if someone dreamed to be a Nika.. then the fruit is logical. That's all. Its imagination. Its One Piece, the core of the story.

Its everything but lazy. Imagination is the core caracter of One Piece as a story. Imagination is everything about Luffy, Imagination is everything about the devil fruit. That's called milking in storytelling. An echoing of the theme through plot point and twists. Imagination was the perfect revelation for One Piece, its not lazy, its amazingly crafted.

Explaining an ability and how it works is hard, and I dont expect it from Oda's lazy @ss. Plus, it by passes the need to establish rules around a power. No limitations on power means no risk of getting cornered.
So, he just decided to give "everything in his imagination" power, which is fairly simple to explain > "He can do it because of his imagination".

Before G5 we were reading how Luffy will become Pirate King now we are reading how the others will failed to become Pirate King.

Apparently it was not enough to give Luffy unlimited Haki boost, now he is a reality warper. There is no tension nor stakes anymore. Just hax and PIS.
