The defense of the last jedi is so stupid

like it defies expectations
as if that on it's own inherently adds value
Like imagine wanting a pet dog and instead your given a singular ant not an ant colony, a singular ant. that would defy your expectations would it not
yea but it's not a good because you didt want an ant
We have expectations for logical reasons, We go to mcdonald's ordering a hamburger and fries because we expect that delivery to be given rather then say piss and feces. you expect things given experience and just simple desire plus if the pretentious fucks who stan for that flim care so much about defying the norm or whatever then why still have it, be a sci fi action story instead say an romance sitcom. some people are just dumb shills sadly

So you wanted it to be exactly like the other star wars films and are mad that other people are happy it tried to do something different?
Knowing what happens in the final movie this movie virtually achieves nothing and totally shits on the legacy of Luke Skywalker and portrays him like a total useless sack of potatoes.

That isn't a problem with TLJ itself, that's an issue with the final film in the trilogy being shit. Plus Luke saved the resistance in the end, performing one of the most powerful force fears in canon. Definitely wasn't a useless sack of potatoes

Both are shit as fuck just like the entire new trilogy itself. Fuck that dude who directed this.

Dave Filoni for the next movies if they ever occur.

Your analogies are all about expecting something good and getting something bad instead. You're being too subjective. While you may find the subversion of expectations took the movie in directions you didn't like, that is not the case for everyone

really want to do something different

make it a romance sitcom

change the genre

change the medium so it's animated instead of live action

What was done however was not something different in a way that's meaningful

it's different in the way, it's being different for the sake of it and to shit on the past
not for any creative or logical reason but you go man telling off those haters with the most mundane and dumb responses you can think up

It's not subversion, it's character contradiction
Luke saw his father's good when he was darth vader, but he wants to kill a young boy because he is afraid what he migjt become.
Pure character assassination.

Dave Filoni would just make any film about Ashoka. I love the guy's work, but I wouldn't want him writing everything lol

I did not say the movie was shit, I said that praising something just because it's different is stupid.
As for me, I don't even like Star Wars in the first place.

The only thing "different" about TLJ is that it does the opposite of stereotypical Star Wars beats. It wasn't being different for the sake of being different. It different, because the fans (vocal minority or not) said they wanted to see something new and unexpected after TFA copied ANH lol. The Sequel trilogy is a cautionary tale of when to NOT listen too much to fan outrage. Whether the Star Wars fanbase admits it or not, they are the reason why we got we got.

This is just a repeat of what I said was fallacious about your original argument. Your argument is 100% opinionated. All you're doing is throwing a tantrum.
But you did not expect me to quote throw a tantrum so therefore doing such, Is good because it subverted what you expected

also no made a slight insult at you because doing so would subvert what you expected and that's of merit to you, Why is me doing that bad by your own logic, it should be a good thing
as it's subverting expectations

For Star Wars specifically as a franchise, it is, they always recycle the same shit. I understand the praise for it being different for that very reason. Star Wars tends to recycle the same story beats, the Prequels atleast made up for that flaw with world building. But the dialogue and acting was terrible lol

You've ignored everything I've actually said in order to repeatedly swing at a strawman argument you've invented. You're just going "this is what YOU sound like" and then hurling unrelated insults

I would argue that "at least they are different" is much more true for the prequel.
The sequel are non-sequitur mish mash of unrealised idea, full blown copy and absolute terrible acting.
There is no arch for anyone, there is no plot, there are actually no characters. It's abysmal that people actually went to see this shit in the cinemas. I would, possibly, justify the 7th because you cannot know in advance. But jesus, who actually went to see the 9th or the 8th either is a fanboy, has terrible tastes or is just a pure masochist.

literally

anything and everything is good

by the logic of subverting expectations

-sending kinky porn videos
- literal scenes of a real murder

Subverting what you expect aint inherently good
as you tend to expect certain things based on logic like when you go on a date, your expecting that you dont end up getting knifed to death or shot in head upon first meeting him or her

the logic for defending this film is the most dumb shit, humanly possible
