Oda wasted years with running and skirmishes and bad plot. Nothing to do with the supernova. He spent way to much time with fodder side characters and kept the strawhats split up too much. None of the strawhats have had arcs where we see exactly where they are in power except wano and Usopp didn't even get a proper fight. Hell usopp hasn't developed in over a decade. Other than kidd the other supernovae provided entertainment so they are ok.

The Seven Warlords are miles ahead of the Yonko as characters. Even Shanks

They are absolute fan favorites. Characters like Crocodile, Mihawk, Doflamingo or Jimbei have given us dozens of memorable moments. While the Yonko have been so underwhelming until recent chapters.

But Warlords definitely made the story better.
Crocodile, Doflamingo made good villains of their respective arcs. (Better villains than Crydo and Meme)

The story would have been less enjoyable without the SNs and warlords tho when it came to Warlords Oda didn’t really have to make Luffy fight nearly all of them. Luffy literally could have gotten the warlord tamer for how many times he had to defeat them. Thriller Bark was unnecessary.

Too early to say. Shanks hasn't even had his own arc yet.
And he is still one of the most interesting characters

People complain about the starwhats getting too powerful too fast and not having enough downtime.

Imagine how much fucking worse off the story would be if it was just the Yonko saga alone...

Like, they'd be just speed running the whole fucking manga at that point. And what we've gotten from the Yonko saga so far isn't even that good.

Basically, a worse story with much more glaring holes and even more breakneck pace.



The warlords and supernova (mainly ) make the story much better. Their positives far outweigh the negatives.
