I believe that the Ancient Kingdom ahd two kings. Nerona Imu and Joyboy (aka Nika), just as Zou was ruled by Inu(arashi) and Neko(mamushi).
Imu wanted to stop technological progress. People nowadays also fear AI and automation. Joyboy disagreed. They had a falling out. Imu went to kingdoms dependant on Ancient Kingdom tech and made them pick a side. 19 chose him. The other kings, that fought for Joyboy, became the D Clan. After Joyboy lost, he was hidden on Laughtale, by the Lunarians. Imu found out and had them slaughtered, but didn't find Joyboy.
Core claim is that the Laughtale Arc will be a combination of the Zou and the Drum Arc.
