The Viz has a celestial dragon say “You’re just more Buccaneers” to the Davy clan

but then again announcer who is saying that Kuma is a buccaneer doesn’t point out that the Davys are buccaneers. Though the announcer makes it seem like Kuma is somehow known among the Celestial dragons, like they knew about Kuma before the hunt and that’s why the announcer is singling out Kuma specifically as a buccaneer.

anyway, what’s to be taken from this?

But it’s random to have a misinformed statement just presented with no correction then. Like Oda could’ve had a character or something correct this right?

From what I gather all Davy's are buccaneers (unless married in)but not all Buccaneers are Davys

I think some of them are Buccs. Some aren't.

Kuma’s the special target specifically for being a Buccaneer.

If the thirteen Davy Clan members are also Buccaneers - and from a specifcally hated bloodline to boot, which Kuma isn’t- why would Kuma be worth more than them?

It’s possible that the truth is that while Davys aren’t buccaneers, they are similar and have a similar origin.

My theory:

Buccaneers = sky people with giant ancestry
Davy = sky people with fish man ancestry

both are sky people hybrids who have lost their wings due to intermarriage

there's no evidence that sky people actually have real wings. None of them ever flap them or move them like King or the Seraphim do. Some of them replace their wings like accessories, like Enel who installed drums instead, or Urouge who had one set of wings as a child but then switched to a Birkan set as an adult. It legitimately may just be a cultural costume. Maybe they had real wings in the moon era, but it could just as well have been religious emulation of the lunarians

The idea of Blackbeard being a Buccaneer was something on my mind since Kuma flashback so after seeing this chapter it only added more fuel to my headcanon but I admit it’s played very vaguely in this scene. I do think there’s implication that the Davy’s are Buccaneers and probably the founding family of the D clan. I think we’ll get more clarity soon.

Davy clan aren't worth it when there are Buccaneers.

There could be a hint that the government was planning on eliminating Xebec for that reason.

However they did eliminate Kuma's buccaneer parents.

It's framed as question, so they're suggesting they're just like Buccaneers from the Celestial Dragons point of view.. But they're most likely not in the literal sense, instead more like the two have been persecuted and near extinct since the void century, clan and race that are not allowed to survive, enemy of the world government..

Same framing as Kaido being unsure if Zoro used CoC when it's actually not..
