As long as there is no sign of Kidd being mainly damaged by Saint Shanks' sword cut but his CoC blast instead, Saint Shanks is a stronger haki user than Zoro, also a weaker swordsman than Zoro. If WSS fanbase want Saint Shanks' attack to be based on "cut and doesnt cut" principle since they want to wank Mihawk even further from Saint Shanks'performance, well just prove it by providing on-panel commentaries or anything about it. Until then, well Saint Shanks defeat Kidd using his ship-sized CoC blast as a primary damage dealer, while his strength as a swordsman is okay i guess.

if Saint Shanks is not a swordman oda would've made it clear that he's not, like have Saint Shanks or someone else mention that "he is not considered a swordman"
but instead he made the world government do a direct comparison between Saint Shanks and mihawk in swordmanship

Good thing there's not a single scan in the history of OP which says a swordsman attack has to cut to be considered a swordsman attack, and there are multiple instances of confirmed swordsmanship attacks not cutting but instead blasting.
Saint Shanks defeated Kidd using a sword attack. A sword technique. As simple as that.
You use CoC with your bullets, it's a marksman attack. You use CoC with your sword, it's a swordsman attack. You use Coc in your punches, you're attacking as a brawler. CoC is not a separate fighting style, but a massive boost to whatever your fighting style is. In deciding who a stronger swordsman/marksman/brawler is, ALL the fundamental things such as stats, every haki type, skills, etc factor in.
A very simple concept that I have no idea how people fail to comprehend.

Its not complicated. Saint Shanks and Roger are same. Saint Shanks isn't WGS same way Roger isn't WGS. Being a swordsman or not is irrelevant.
He can be a swordsman and still stronger than WGS via Haki level difference. WGS is based on sword skill, that is why Saint Shanks's sword skill is compared to Mihawk's because Mihawk's sword skill is the best.
Saint Shanks and Roger's ability is based on Haki level, they can do the same thing with any other weapon, axe, club etc just like Dorry is using a sword while sending Hakoku while Brogy is using an axe. But swordsman like Mihawk need special sword to amplify their cutting techniques. Imagine Big mom saying ''look out for Saint Shanks's sword'' not Saint Shanks

That's true at least, both are ACoC swordsmen like Zoro.
