I now think being a Gorosei member is an election or a merit of achievements
These guys were once common WG members (nobles) who grew stronger and showed their uttermost loyalty for years /decades till they got to that position .
Imu might also be the same case, he was once a Gorosei who was chosen to lead after showing CoC + VoAT similar to Seats choosing Doffy as their King when he showed CoC.
That's why i also believe Imu is a kingly title similar to Joyboy title where only a few can be it if you have CoC + VoAT.
You can see from their outfits that these guys are ex active fighters, politicians, manual etc.. before being in that position.
I bet none of these Gorosei are over 80!
The youngest of them is the blonde one with long legs like Sanji and he's probably around 40-55 y.o.
Once they joined the rank, they had their DNA manipulated or use a df to remain ageless for years or centuries but these current members were surely not there in the void century or 500 years ago!
