General & Others What could finally decide Shanks to go after Blackbeard ? Why hasn't he done it before ?

Plot purpose imo is the best answer, even if it weird that he is warning everybody about him (if he did the same with the gorosei) but he does nothing. Probably he will be forced to act when Luffy has almost reached his level in order to lose amd reful Luffy's hate for BB. It can even happen "now" in Wano: the balance is even more broken now that shikis have been outlawed (even if we still need to see Vegapunk new weapon) BB is most likely going to go shopping like he did back in Impel down so it is (could be) now or never to stop him. Then he could come to Wano to take his final df (zoan this time) and meet Shanks there. Afterall this is the vs 4 emperor saga and while we have plenty of 2 we still lack almost totally the most important ones.
It's a great question. Obvious answer would be plot: Blackbeard needs to become crazy strong, and also Shanks cannot lose face. I wonder if the RHP will ever disclose what happened between them.

Ever since we saw Teach tell his crew they were going after something to prevent the Marines from having whatever it is, I’ve felt like Shanks foresaw this and decided to make his own move. Still gotta find out what it is (my guess is the popular one - BB is going after an Ancient Weapon) to be sure, but it has to be seismic enough to convince everyone to mobilize.
Another popular theory he is going after the shikis before the marines get them (or get their fleets destroyed by Mihawk) now that they are outlaws. Anyway Wano already has 2 big shots if the BB or even the marines put foot on Wanon shores (without some flying troll pushing them back) then imonyou can be sure all the yonko will be there Shanks included.
But other than that he could have tell the Gorosei about this LOL
If I was cynical I could see it being Luffy as a huge WTF for the ages. Remember Shanks didn't go to them until after this moment where Luffy was considered a "Yonko" by Morgans and Shanks read the newspaper, smiling ominously. There was no other major event occuring with other pirates save for Luffy's incident at WCI

But no joke I actually am being cynical and think it's Luffy. The point is, Shanks is talking to people who commit genocides to hide history. Shanks's "good" persona died for me the moment he started casually talking to them. Again, I don't think Shanks is evil but he has other goals at play, and they won't exactly align with Luffy's I feel.

Hmmm, as you know, I disagree with your theory, and I don't think talking to the world government is enough to make you evil, especially when you're a pirate and can do whatever the fuck you want.
What could he possibly share about Luffy important enough for them to know? Blackbeard is way more shady and dangerous, so info on him is probably more valuable to the world overall.

The reason shanks does nothing to BB maybe the same reason imu did not confront BB by now
I think the yami yami no mi is one of the reasons too. Other than that i think BB is crazy strong at some condition just like hakuba-cavendish or stronger that he can put a scar on shanks' face and escape (maybe)
