Three-four times that can happen but he was captures 18 times , most of those captures were likely done by the marines lets say 13-14 times , I find it hard to believe he never came face to face with any admirals even once....

But kaido can not be so stupid to attack multiples times knowing his own powerlevel , he waited five years to attack oden. He was most likely a semi top tier when he was challenging the marines.
