My personal favorite is Gen 3. It's the only Generation outside of 1 and maybe 7 where all of the starters are great and well designed.

Gen 4, actually. I love Gen 3 as well, but I was absolutely thrilled when they introduced varying typings in 4. Like Grass Ground and Water Steel which are still rare, even 5 Gens later.

But gen's 1 and 4 also have a special place in my heart.

Gen 3 for me. It was always pretty hard to decide which starter I'll take, loved all three of them

Closely followed by Gen 1 and 2. Gen 5 had great starters too
