Questions & Mysteries Why didn't Kidd keep the same energy against Kaido?

Nah it ain’t power lvl related. Its the MC effect. Kid couldn’t have gotten what he wanted whilst the MC in Luffy had the same exact goal. Someone was gonna be tossed aside and that was a no brainer for Oda even if it meant coming at the cost of Kid’s own stated desires.

Though with Luffy getting tossed like trash off screen having Kid remain with him would have not only been of great help for Luffy’s odds but it would have been in line with what Kid’s been wanting to to do for the entire arc.

Plot plot no mi I imagine.

It's indeed quite strange that Kidd didn't show that vitalism against Kaido. An explanation could be that the greater number of people taking on him and in general quantity of danger they were posting to Kaido the least he would act, but it doesn't strike like a compelling argument. He could have helped out too.

He saw Oda is making a meme out of BM and thought he would have a better chance of getting a good bounty hoping something stupid happens with BM and he gets credit(Honestly still only has Punk Gibson :lawsigh:).

Yeah, Kidd has WAY more buildup with Kaido than he has with Big Mom. I would imagine that the most payoffs/satisfactory moments from Kidd would come against him.

But it seems that this won't be the case. We'll have to see what will happen against Big Mom and where Oda will go with this. I have some question marks about the Kid/Big Mom confrontation. Actually, Kid himself is still a question mark for me. Yes, there are people who are confident that he will have gotten this near Luffy like status/portrayal by the end of Wano while others think that nothing of that sort will happen and that, if anything, Kidd will be the example of a failure compared to Luffy (and Zoro as well), at the very least in the short term.

Honestly, as much as some people strongly believe that a certain narrative about him is being pushed by Oda, I don't think that there are certainties by any means when it comes to Kidd.

The fact he tossed his initial goal of slaughtering Kaido aside so unreluctantly is beyond pathetic.

Kid is ruined to me. I guess we were the dumb ones for believing he'd share spotlight with pirate jesus in the first place.

He will end up fighting both Kaido and Big Mom alongside Luffy in the end anyway :few:

It’s honestly better for him to get his own spotlight against a seperate Yonko than to share it with Luffy anyway tbh.

What happend to all that build up Kidd had fighting kaido? What happend to all that anger towards him.

Why is he fighting Big Meme now? Is it bc hes weak and that he couldnt hurt Kaido?
Kids too weak to fight a Yonko, so he decides to fight another Yonko.... U hear how that sounds right??
:king:

Anyway u clearly know why already, it’s the same reason Zoro so overshadowed in a fight he’s arguably put the most work into. Luffy the main character there not, simply as that

Exactly, at the end of the day Luffy will always take the main spotlight against the main villain. The fact that Kidd was even given his own separate Yonko from Luffy to fight should tell you something. Oda could have easily done him dirty and made his main fight Apoo or something lol.

Because Law has to fight Big Mom and what better way than to steal Kid’s thunder as he’s getting his ass beat.

He shambles in then gives Linlin lyposuction

just don't like the way Oda went on about it. If he was forced off the roof for instance it would've been better.
Now this I agree with for sure. It felt very forced and contrived. Almost as of Oda just wanted everyone off the roof so Luffy could 1v1 Kaido. The way it was done was out of character for Kidd and it can seem like he got shafted. Then again he went to go fight another Yonko not Apoo or something, so I’m not that mad lol.

Oda has built up to kidd vs big moms long before kidd vs kaido
What build up? All he did against Big Mom was:
- Attack a small fleet, causing a bit of money shortage
- Injured a commander and took something (presumably a rubbing of the road poneglyph)

Basically nothing much in comparison to what Luffy did, heck Urouge arguably delivered the bigger blow on Big Mom by defeating Snack, atleast in the short term. Anyway Luffy is the sole reason why Big Mom is even in Wano. She hasn’t batted an eyelid at Kid, Kid similarly hasn’t said a word about going at Big Mom, he was all on about Kaido the entire Udon phase and kept the same energy going into the raid. The only reason they’re fighting is because of a forced circumstantial matchup rather than built up narratives. If we’re talking about build up, Kid has every reason to be fighting Kaido instead.

The fact he tossed his initial goal of slaughtering Kaido aside so unreluctantly is beyond pathetic.

Bro Oda couldn’t meet the lowest bar set with Kid man. It was clearly too much to ask of Oda to have Kid even make any sort of progress at his initial goal because it would come at the cost of sharing the spotlight with Luffy. With Oda being as Luffy centric as he has been, there’s simply zero room for a character like Kid to reasonably progress toward any goal that intertwines with Luffy and its practically impossible to see him carve out another path because he also shares the same goal of being Pirate King. So he’s bound to be hindered in pathetic fashion because Oda can’t write a compelling story for him as a rival.

I mean hell, his only other notable motivation this arc was to get revenge on Apoo for backstabbing him yet all that amounted to was a tiny skirmish which was abruptly interrupted and subsequently turned into a gag scene. They haven’t had an interaction since and most likely won’t for the rest of the arc. Not mention his relatively subpar performance on the rooftop albeit he’s starting out strong vs Big Mom. But yeah Kid’s been a letdown.
