In the latest chapter, it was shown that Dr. Ujiko is stabilizing Shigaraki with the hopes of having him quickly awaken to challenge the heroes, who are now invading the hospital.
Assuming that Shigaraki will awaken, which he most likely will, I think that there is a very big chance that many, many, pro heroes will die.
Given how deadly Shigaraki's "decay" is, it would take a spectacular amount of plot armor for this not to happen. All shigaraki has to do is touch the ground and he could kill nearly all the heroes in Jakku. Not all heroes would die, Endeavor obviously would be able to use his flame abilities to fly and so would ryukyuu with her dragon form. Due to plot, I'm sure that Aizawa will find some way to survive, possibly with the help of Ryukyu or Rock lock. But apart from the few pro heroes that are major characters in the story as well as a few other important ones like Wash who I'm sure Horikoshi would want to conserve for future use, I think almost all of the heroes at Jakku, half of all the pro heroes in Japan, would die.
I think it is very peculiar that Izuku, the main character, would be left out of such an important event in the story. I think I understand why that is now. With half of the pro-heroes dead, Izuku and the class of UA will be forced to become pro-heroes themselves and fill the shoes of the fallen in a final attempt to take down shigaraki. This will be the marineford like event that will result in the fall of endeavor and bnha timeskip.
The only question is, would Horikoshi really kill off so many characters? from my experience with Oda, I do admit that I'd be a bit shocked to see so much death. But from what we've seen, Horikoshi isn't afraid to make Bnha dark when he wants it to be dark. And it would honestly be a major contrivance if Shigaraki awakens but doesn't use his ability to take out the heroes.
I think the effects of this would be huge. You'd see Endeavor questioning his worth as #1 hero, you'd see some surviving heroes give up hope and want to quit altogether, and you'd have all might at his lowest point yet. All might would feel the burden of his absence, of his failure to fully serve Nana, and of his inability to do anything at the worst time in hero history. You'd also have these young heroes have to take on the responsibility of having the fate of the entire nation in their hands.
it would truly be one of the most pivotal moments in the series as of yet.
