If he is to fight King, Oda has went about it in a baffling way.

Zoro can already cut fire. It’s the very first thing he showed on the roof top fight. He’d already be going into the fight fully capable of neutralising the thing that has given King his epithet- and he can do it casually. Instead of building it up as a moment of triumph for Zoro to overcome King’s flames, we‘d be going into the fight knowing that he can deal with it no problem, because he’s dealt with the vastly superior Kaido and Big Mom’s flames.

There’s also no set up for the two to fight, and the opportunity was certianly there. Zoro and King where in the same building for a good ten chaoters and never interacted with each other once. Instead, it’s all been build up to Zoro fighting Kaido- King would just be a detour. Oda has to somehow write Zoro- having already said multiple times that he doesn’t want to waste any time or energy on someone who isn’t Kaido, because Kaido will take everything they have and more- leaving Kaido be and going after King instead.

There’s also the fact that we’re now eagerly awaiting seeing what damage Zoro’s swords can do to Kaido, so... do we really expect King to be able to stand up to an Enma fight?

Do you think Zoro going into the fight with the tools to fend off the fire is much different than Sanji having the RS to block Queens Plague Bullets ?

Wouldn't that be an opportunity to give King a Special Ability?

After all if he's YC1 would it really be a big deal if his Fire is more potent than BM and Kaido's?
