Well like I said in my genius thread, Oda just retconed Kaido's durability otherwise he had no choice but to have Luffy 1v1 Kaido from start to finish.
So now anything can hurt Kaido, just hit him and say you are a SN, it should do the trick
But only Luffy and Zoro are using haki. Law uses his df and Kidd is using the ground.

You don't exactly need COA stage-3 just to hurt Kaido which was proved to be wrong when Scabbards were able to hurt him. COA stage 3 is the most effective way there is to fight Kaido but that doesn't mean everything else doesn't work. The other methods do not work as effectively as they should due to Dragon Scales. That is why Kaido described only a selected few as the people who can fight him.
Only thing that didn't make much sense this chapter is Kid's attack. It wasn't supposed to work on Kaido but Oda made it work just for the sake of making Kid relevant which is sad IMO.
WB used COA on Akainu or else his attacks wouldn't connect. It was nowhere near what he can do with COA if he were normal though.

The energy of a 10 KM fall isn't that high because of terminal velocity. Like it's an impressive feat in the context of One Piece, but like preskip M3 have demonstrated more destructive attacks.
