Now this is not a Zoro bash thread. Serious discussion on why Oda is favoring Zoro more than other M3 members like Sanji or even more than the captain and MC Luffy...

Let's be honest: Zoro is cool with Santouryu and Samurai type behaviours which makes him a fan favorite for no doubt.

But while Zoro is like this being favored by Oda and not being lowballed like Sanji? Or even like Luffy?

The answer is : because Zoro is DUMB.

Now before you say Luffy, I agree Luffy is dumb too. And Sanji too when it comes to women.

But Luffy is the captain and not only this he has one ability that makes him special, much more special than Zoro:

As Mihawk said; to ability to gain allies.

Both Luffy and Zoro are dumb. But only Luffy has this special social ability not Zoro.

If Oda shit on Luffy and Sanji less, then Zoro will look even worse because he also makes Zoro dumb like Luffy.

But again; Luffy has an excuse to that because he has the special ability to gain allies and friends in a short time, and he is a very special leader. Zoro has none of this abilities. He needs to be cool.

So you Luffy and Sanji fans need to understand this fact, then you also have to understand why Oda gives a pass to Zoro most of the time and why he doesn't shit on Zoro too much and why he try to make Zoro look cool more than Luffy and Sanji most of the time.

As for Sanji yes he is definitely dumb when it comes to women but except for that you need to admit that he is the smartest M3 member; look at Enies Lobby arc ending and how he make Enel cry at Skypiea arc.

In addition to Sanji's intelligence, he is also an excellent cook, that every rich people in the world would probably want him to prepare their food for them.

So the reason why Oda shits on Luffy and Sanji is because he gave extra special abilities to these two while Zoro has none of it. He is just the fighter of SH pirates he didn't even made him ''officially'' vice captain like Rayleigh. So when you consider this, this is actually a fair trade.

Zoro = no special abilities, just fighter thus it shouldn't be lowballed
Luffy = captain, effective leader, special ability like gaining allies, even turning his enemies into allies
Sanji = intelligent, and an excellent cook

If Zoro is dumb than Luffy and Sanji are mentally retarded
And guess what, just to give you a perspective of how much better a character Zoro is than Luffy, Luffy completely looks like a sack of shit the moment Zoro takes the center stage.

Take Thriller Bark or Wano for example.
Luffy is MC of manga yet most fans consider this greatest moment in One Piece. There is no single Luffy moment that rivals this

Luffy isn't being done unfair by Oda‚ that is his character since the beginning irregardless of the ability to gain allies.

And no...Oda doesn't prefer anyone over Luffy.

If all this thread needed to be created to proof why Oda prefers Zoro over Luffy‚ then it is simply not true

Razor on food is as canon as Sanji's pink Ryou aura, or Nami's CoA hitting Luffy.

I think that Oda doesn't prefer anyone over anyone. If the question is "Why is Zoro getting more spotlight than Sanji or other SN" it's easy. After an arc where Sanji is the main focus now we have an arc based on Samurais where Zoro is probably going to get the same spotlight that Sanji got in WCI. Not him being the focus of the arc but rather doing something important and cool. And it is fine, every SH should have at least one arc where they shine the most.

If Zoro was dumb why would he ask Mihawk to train him? That was a great move. He was reckless in challenging him too soon, but that's not necessarily strictly IQ related at all. Much more about personality.
