Nah. It makes no sense to devote several chapters to Yamato vs Kaido's fight if Yamato accomplishes nothing in the battle.

I don't think Yamato is going to fight Kaido only to underperform the Scabbards. If her fight was so meaningless, why make it the second to the last?

If Oda intended for Yamato vs Kaido to be Kaido vs Scabbards part two, I think Oda would have had Yamato fight Kaido earlier.
Your focus is power scale. Its not all powerscaling.
Yamato is going up there to transition the focus into their relationship.

Yamato never stood a chance against Kaido, let alone its a 1v1.
Whats stopping another Thunder Bagua knocking her out?

This reunion will only trigger a flashback and conversation.

If the guy that just offscreened the main character reacts like this

Yamato doesn't have a chance.

1V1 ALWAYS BET ON KAIDO

Why are you so convinced the black warrior must be Orochi?
Issa snake with longevity. That's self-explanatory.
If its Pekoms, then the fanbase is gonna bitch about why he's alive.

Cause she gets clapped easy by kaido and we get a backstory. She not there to push him in a fight.
Oda has been holding back Yamato from fighting anyone else:
  • He refused to reveal her Zoan form let alone her Hybrid form
  • He held her back from having a protracted fight with any significant enemy:
    • She oneshot Ulti the first time around.
    • When Ulti attacked her the second time, Luffy asked her to protect Momonosuke.
    • Franky and Hatchan intervened before she and Sasaki could begin fighting
So Oda has been taking deliberate efforts to hide her true combat ability, only giving us small glimpses (Thunder Bagua, Narikabura Arrow, teasing her durability vs Sasaki, her short clash with Luffy, etc.). Oda is saving her true combat ability for a debut. By all indications, that debut would be Vs. Kaido.

If he was going to have Kaido immediately stomp her, he would have let her reveal her abilities against other characters first. Just look at the Scabbards:
  • The Sulong Dukes got their hype against Jack's Zoan form.
  • The Scabbards got their hype against Kaido's Dragon form
These are characters less important than Yamato, and Oda ensured that he properly hyped them and depicted them as formidable combatants before they were defeated.
If Oda intended for her to get clapped vs Kaido then:
  • Why has Oda completely hidden her Devil Fruit?
  • Why has Oda refused to reveal her true combat ability?
  • Why has Oda prevented her from having full fights with other characters?

You haven't given a good answer to the above. Oda has been saving Yamato's proper debut for Kaido. And you claim it's to reveal Kaido immediately stomping Yamato?

That’s why she will just be there to bring up some flashback and holds him a few minutes, then Luffy is back on the main stage and proves that wrong.

Oda is addicted to the silhouette silhouette No Mi lmfaoooo
Bruh its simple, this develops curiosity and anticipation
He did the same think with neko and inu

  • Why has Oda refused to reveal her true combat ability?
Lmao he didn't refuse anything. He showed her wash Ulti, and bodybag the armored corps of Sasaki

  • Why has Oda prevented her from having full fights with other characters?
Because Yamato will join Luffy and Zoro Act 4 for a bigger fight. 1v1 Yamato gets washed like Kinemon.

Yupp, I think Luffy returns for Act 4. I think Oda will milk out Luffy's "defeat" as long as he can. This builds tension and anticipation for Luffy's location/whereabouts. Some people had said Kaido's thoughts on Luffy's defeats will bring some doubts within even fans about whats next. This is shown by Kaido beating Luffy 3 times and Kaido being unfazed.

Oda's aim is to break "our wills" alongside the alliance as well given how long of a ride he's been taking us to start/end fights with the strawhats and even Eustass if you think about it.

My complaint is not about the powerscale but the Narrative. Oda has refused to let Yamato show her Devil Fruit or combat ability and refused to let her have a full fight with anyone else. If Oda wanted Kaido to oneshot her with a Thunder Bagua, he's not going to do that.

You're the one focusing too much on your headcanon powerscaling. Oda is simply not going to tease Yamato as a formidable warrior but hide her Devil Fruit and true abilities for her fight with Kaido only for Kaido to then no diff her.

That's just not how Oda writes his story.

Do you want to bet on it?

Yamato is not defeating Kaido in a 1 vs 1, but she's not getting no diffed either.

No, the Black Warrior is a turtle or tortoise. It has a snake around it, but it's only described as a turtle/tortoise.

Unlike Pedro, none of the minks have commented on Pekoms being dead.

I'm willing to bet Yamato gets no-low diffed (but still conscious).

And just like I been saying, she will look cool but ultimately do nothing to Kaido.

Then it triggers into flashback.
Then Act 4, Luffy and Zoro recoup and join her.

Then Yamato goes down to have her real fight (Jack or Smoothie)

This doesn't make sense. Oda didn't silhouette Yamato's Devil Fruit, he straight up refused to allow her use it.

Oda is hiding the debut of her Devil Fruit and its abilities for her fight with Kaido.

  • Yamato's second fight with Ulti was interrupted by Luffy.
  • Yamato vs Sasaki was interrupted by Franky and Hatchan.
  • Yamato didn't use any named techniques in her 3 page clash with Luffy.

Even in Base, it seems like Oda is holding back some of Yamato's combat ability.

I don't think this makes sense.

Yamato's Devil Fruit will debut in her 1 vs 1 against Kaido not in a later 3 vs 1. So Oda wasn't saving her abilities for a 3 vs 1, but for this 1 vs 1.

Still getting washed.
The tone around the past couple chapters is the development of despair.
  • Big Mom washing 2 Tobi Roppo instantly
  • Big Mom creating a stronger Homie
  • Kaido not even falling to the knees from Asura + scar
  • Kaido off screening Luffy
  • Kaido in base sighing in disappointment
  • Zoro knocked out, 20-30 broken bones
  • Luffy knocked out, falling off Onigashima
3 Power Ups Luffy can't do shit to Kaido, but no no you're right, please tell me how Yamato in a 1v1 will push Kaido to a mid-high diff. :milaugh::luffylaugh::lulz:
Oda's going to have this "mythical zoan, built up to be strong combatant" Yamato take on Kaido to ultimately have her destroyed.
This fuels the current narrative that there is no hope against Kaido and the Yonko's are truly out of their league and are a formidable force to deal with.
