Apparently some people are genetically prone to not be affected by little amounts of sleep. Famous inventor Nikola Tesla was used sleeping a couple hours a day. He was one hell of a rare case, but there are less rare cases around. Others are sadly just sleep deprived.
I remember back in my 10th grade, I only got like 5-6 hours of sleep because I have to finish my work before the due date, I almost got fainted in my physics classroom the next day. Good thing that my willpower is strong.

It does affect their health with the daytime fatigue but the serious harm could happen in the long run, like seeing hallucinations or other psychological risks after years of lack of sleep
Nice to see so many different replies. In our modern society sleep is something that often gets overlooked, you'd barely hear anything about a person sleeping less than 8 hours in our hunter gatherer days.
