Jack was never shown using it neither in Zou nor in Onigashima and don't tell he was not serious or he didn't want to beat the minks. it really doesn't make any sense at all.
he was fighting the minks leader 5 days straight and wanted to beat them for sure, and he was fighting both of them in solung form , was very serious and losing . Kaido had to save him and he still didn't use it. something tell either his hybrid form is his worst form or he doesn't have a hybrid form.

it was not if he had to fight 5 days and then used Gas to defeat them. even if he didn't wanted to kill them he could defeat them. defeat doesn't mean killing. and on Onigashima the moment he was defeated and Kaido has to protect him was shown and he was in his Zoan form.
