Even if Garp has his flaws (and it is for the best that he is not perfect) he is a man who cared and who is fair. Garp knows that if Ace was ever discovered he would have been killed right away even as a born child. And Garp knew that Roger told the truth about the sins of the father don't belong to the son.

And Garp respected Roger, he respected the strength of the man, they had defeated Rocks together, they fought a lot of times, and I think he was a little impressed by Roger and what he had accomplished. He didn't want that Roger only son was butchered for nothing , it would have been disrespectful for Roger.

I don't think there is any kind of debt involved.

well i started to understand rogers personality a bit when he didnt do anything for wano. He could have stuck up for oden .

Its not like they hated each other they did teamed up against Rocks, he didn't ask to save Rogers life his asking to save a innocent child life.

I am not really surprised by these turn of events as Shirahoshi's importance in the story has been teased for quite a long time and that Roger has been hinted to be a deeply flawed man ever since the Paramount war saga.

That is why one piece is great....everyone is flawed and won't come under same category of people
