Isn’t Haki closely associated with Soul/Will? Also; multiple characters have made note of the blade’s strange aura, even Kaido said it’s Oden’s haki coming from the blade.

Much like certain individuals wanted Zoro to only kill the big fry.... (Kaido).

But haki is exactly what you call will, or even soul. If man grew stronger, defeate more stronger opponents, his haki grow too - that was something that Teach imply long time ago. So if Blackened Sword means that it carry another Soul, withing it's Haki that could lead to answers. And yes, possibility about Mihawk being fake legend right now is hight as hell. Yoru was knoiwn as Sword number one before Mihawk became it's wielder. So it could contain Haki of real number one swordman, or couild lead to the true final opponent of Zoro, who made Yoru black.
