Oda is a great mangaka and has ruled the industry for years. However he got complacent and instead of evolving, stuck to the same formula that got him famous to begin with.

All the while, newer younger mangaka were forced to work as hard as they physically can just to survive in the industry. As a result, manga like attack on titan and demon slayer rose to challenge one piece and eventually surpassed it in sales, popularity, and even quality imo.

I wonder how One piece will end. Will the series die on its feet like whitebeard? Or be destroyed by its own incompetence like big mom?
