i think luffy is using his zoan form and awakening at the same time , that probably consumes alot of energy, so awakening has time limit but zoan form doesn't

He didn't say that is gear 5 time limit. He say "Looks like I'll be able to fight for a bit longer". Because he is still have an severe injuries from Horai Hakkei that made him almost dead or really tempolary dead. Awakening make him can continues to fight even in severe injuries state for a little bit.
He didn't even need to use his haki to maintain his gear 5.

Zoans don't really "heal" in that sense. They just have a faster recovery rate. But that can easily be offset through hardcore fighting. Nobody has unlimited stamina/regen. Not even Marco, and that's his DF's actual ability.

Zoro's attacks are not primarily meant to make things blow like explosive energy blasts do, that doesn't mean he isn't going to prove particularly effective thanks to his massive lethality.

He does cut with extreme accuracy and depth although he doesn't blow up pieces of island.
