That's true. And if it is in fact the correct interpretation, then we hear it from the horses mouth. He is inferior to Kaido, and by proxy, inferior to Luffy.
You wanna hear from the horses mouth that Rooftop Zoro was inferior to Kaidou and by proxy current Luffy? As if it wasn't obvious when the same Zoro was struggling with Kaidou's RHM?

Context matters and you know that.
Zoro without broken bones can keep going and literally cut an already open wound, making it deeper.
With remaining strength he wanted to take Kaido down hence why he said to Law "If it doesn't work, I'll leave to you" and it didn't work Zoro was disappointed.

Now Zoro is stronger and fresh so probably same situation and Kaido dies.
I suppose Kaido was right when he said humans cling onto hope and desperation
How unfortunate one such as yourself could be so delusional

Has Luffy ever once admitted he couldn't beat Kaido? Nope. Not even after being brutally KOed at the very beginning of the arc. He's always stood firm that he will beat him. He never said anything even remotely as embarassing as "I wish I could beat you.". Where is that resolve in Zoro?

That's why I say that interpretation is a bad one. I'm literally trying to stick up for Zoro here, because that kind of BS statement makes no sense from his character, and you guys are really trying to defend it.

Didn't Luffy run away from Kaidou's peer Big Mom when she was in Olin mode in Udon? Despite resolving to never run from Yonkous and Admirals again?

Besides the point, the translation of Zoro's words were: "I just wanted to bring you down with me.", I don't know where you got the "I wish I could beat you" part from.

Secondly, all that's with 30 broken bones.

I got it from @ShishioIsBack post. He's the one who provided those words.

And 30 broken bones is irrelevant. Nowhere in Zoros words does he lay any kind of blame on his injuries.
