I am pretty sure Kaido was awakened i think Oda just didn't wanted to show or explain it for a reason. Kaido was the one who explained Awakening to Luffy and commented on it. i think it is not just knowledge more he has it as well.

Doesn't change the fact that Luffy needed awakening to beat someone without awakening. If anyone deserves respect, it'd be Kaido for being so strong without awakening. Luffy deserves some respect too for beating Katakuri and Doffy without awakening. I'd say it speaks more about the lack of quality in training for Doffy and Kuri given the fact that you can get as strong as Kaido and Big Mom without awakening.

I still stand by it but I guess we'll have to wait for an official confirmation until it becomes a norm. So I plan on playing along in order to not derail every awakening-related topic.

sure it is not confirmed yet. another option might be that Kaido wanted to die because it is a condition for the awakening of a mythical zoan, and he will come back as the lurking legend but i really doubt it since Luffy is really about to die from exhaustion and there is no single one other than Luffy who can stand against current Kaido , aside from awakend Kaido.
