Character Discussion How is Tama a “good guy”

#21
I would rather compare it to Doflamingo's or Sugar's abilities. Doflamingo could force numerous people to kill each other. Tama has done nothing else. Sugar's victims had no choice but to obey her, too. It just looks less evil in Tama's case because the Gifters don't even know they're under foreign control.

" they serve her happily so it's fine" huh
You do realise it's because they ate under her df influence that's why they are willingly to help and happy first of all right?

Just cause someone is happy to serve wihout free will doesn't mean it is a good thing to do

Oda using a kid as plot device in war is a bad decision
Especially when the kid takes away free will

Pirate King means a person with the most freedom!

*punches Celestial Dragon*
*befriend someone with a slavery DF*
*liberate various country from oppression*
*let townspeople decide whether they're the good guy or the bad guy"

One of these thing doesn't match the other, can you find out?

Tama hate is beyond forced. It doesn't go against Luffy's idea of freedom or any shit like that, the beast pirates and kaido themselves are slavers. The idea that anyone does or should give a shit about the freedom of people that enslaved a whole country is laughable.

Forget Tama, the Kozuki and the rest of Wano are racist cunts.
If Luffy had met Orochi and Kanjuro instead of Kin and Momo, we would be leading a war against the evil and racist Kozuki.
The only reason they're "good" is because the protagonists (who are also "good") are helping them.

Free will is important and we all know the principle of Ace wanting to be as free and independent as someone can be. Luffy is saving several kingdoms from tyrannic villains, giving them their freedom back. And the world government are the ultimate bad guys for controlling humanity in the OP world. So Tama and her powers are contradicting basically the whole message of the manga imo.

Having your free will taken away from you is one of the most terrible things I can think of. It may be justified in some way as who you are targetting with it, using it against bad guys like the beast pirates but still I don´t like this. Mind control and similar powers are very tempting to misuse them for your own gains. Not knowing that you are under control of someone else does not make it any better.

If you deem slavery as an usable punishment, then all you do is prove Kaidou right. You cannot really imply that Kaidou was evil for being a slaver if you use his same methods to depose him. His interests lied in the beast pirates, not Wano’s citizens, rather, it stops being a moral issue and becomes a power (or lack thereof in the case of Wano) issue, with Kaidou being right regarding how strength controls the world and enslaving the people of Wano was a problem only because Kaidou did it first, rather than Tama.
Besides, what even are the gifters? No name fodders with a family to feed, what would be your standard in making them “worthy” of not being enslaved? Rebelling against Kaidou’s tyranny and meet death? Splendid.
Kaidou the slaver has been deposed, Mr “Drums of Liberation” who suggested Tama to enslave Speed and those guys in the Udon Prison? Won’t face any consequences, because Luffy fans want their cake and eat it too regarding this mess of a character, saying that Luffy is a good guy, the embodiment of freedom, who saves people in other Countries, while at the same time he’s a pirate and will do whatever he wants (including acting like a Tenryubito, ah, but it’s different, he smiles, you see) and Oda just wants to rush to the end, regardless of the consequences of the actions thought up to help Luffy speedrun the defeat of opponents he should (never) even be able to touch.

That's all well and good but the fact of the matter is that she's not using her power to create a slave army to do her every bidding, she's a kid using her power to help the people that want to save her country win a lopsided war against the people that completely fucked up Wano. The beast pirates very clearly enjoy fucking up wano and making life hell for the citizens so forgive me if I don't give a shit that tama is using a generic mind control power to make them fight their own side. This is trying too hard, and it's forced.

I don't see people complaining about Shinsou from MHA like that or other charas with such powers. It's just a technique to defeat your enemies, nothing more. It's not like Tama abuses her powers to create a slave empire or something, so chill guys.
Shinsou's power lasts a finite amount of time, as far as we know Tama made the gifters into her slaves forever.
