As the fight went on Kaido was using more and stronger moves from his arsenal. You can make all the excuses you want but homicidal drunk mode for example was way stronger than anything else he'd done up to that point, and he did it because Luffy made him go into it. Luffy then went into gear 5 and was pretty much eating every single attack Kaido hit him with while taking no real damage, and then forced Kaido to use his strongest move vs Luffy's strongest move. Luffy won that exchange. He is >= Kaido at this point.
For me it is Kaido => Luffy either a tie or Kaido wins extreme diff because Luffy barely won the clash then collapsed and Kaido went through a lot of things while lifting an island he also fought yamato when Luffy was eating meat + he barely used FS.
On the other hand Luffy's bajrang > Kaido's blazing bagua and he took a thunder bagua attack because of CP0 member (even though he said one last attack if it's not enough I'll lose)

Luffy get out of G5 while fighting Kaido. "Drain by his gigant form" is your headcannon, nowhere states that. Unlike G4 it seems G5 doesn't have any drawback so Luffy just went G5 again and fight continued.
G5 had extreme diff fight against nerfed Kaido. It is clearly that Kaido is stronger than Luffy.
G5 is already unlimited. If G5 is stronger than Kaido than why it took so long to beat a nerfed Kaido and almost lost?

You see, when the MC is defeated, it is supposed to be an absolute low. So when he gets up with a power up, you would normally expect him to win the fight. This is just basic story telling.
But Oda, having already made kaido far too powerful and Luffy far too weak, spammed this 3 times, thereby making Luffy's losses and power ups have virtually zero impact.
Ultimately this is just shitty writing on Oda's part. After already losing to kaido in act 1, Luffy should not have lost more than 1, maybe 2 times on the roof. 3 was just overboard.
