luffy is never equal to his opponent he either is weaker or his stronger fight that last days are for people that are equally strong (akainu vs aokiji) or are not going all out (kaido vs bigmom and roger vs wb)
There is no big deal making fights that lasted days. Just have the time pass during panels. We had some during Onigashima (after 10 minutes, 30 minutes, Chopper monster point time limit, etc) just make them bigger and more often.
Yamato vs Kaido could have last a couple of hours to hype up Yamato and give Luffy proper time to heal.

@Gear5PhoenixMan I agree with you. It’s a convoluted mess when some characters fight for days and others get it done in an hour. Oda will never show an onscreen 10 day fight, so it’s pointless hype.

You suck as a reader. Out of pretty much any example of Luffy I'll go with his defeat in Kuri, where he totally took a shit on Law's plan to fight Kaido before he even knew what he was up against. Luffy's mindset isn't attrition or long game, which is why he crafts his entire fighting style around shotgunning his power, as he's beem doing since Gear 2. It's why he's gotten further in two years than anyone else in twenty.
He took a long time with Cracker and Katakuri because in each fight it was necessary, but if there's no benefit to it then he'll just go out on his shield.
Didn't Luffy beat Kaido in 15 minutes? Because I remember reading the narrator box saying there is only 10 minutes left before Onigashima crashes and that was before Big Mom was defeated.

No you are one who sucks as a reader. Luffy vs Kaido is the only fight where Luffy goes all out early on. This is not his fighting style at all. Just take Luffy vs Arlong where Luffy lands a clean combo that barely hurt Arlong and he says "I'm just warming up".
(Just hope this wasn't anime only otherwise I screw up my argument)

I think Luffy's pitbull like tenacity wears his opponents down faster. I think if i had a littlae immunity to fire I would last longer against ace than some rubber guy constantly fling punches against me.
He actually went G2 first against Lucci. He only used G2 when Lucci overpowered him and was attacking Franky. And only after he went G3 which is clearly stronger.
Why is Luffy using G2 and G3 anytime at Timeskip? Because he has G4.

He actually went Gear 2 first against Blueno, but thanks for agreeing that Arlong is irrelevant to the specific point of how strategy.
Except it's still symbolic of his "quick start." Begins the fight by attacking Arlong, takes on Crocodile before the crew takes action. Stormed Enies Lobby in the same fashion. Gear 3 had immobilizing drawbacks so no, it wasn't better against Lucci, just harder hitting. Same logic giving Gear 2 to Magellan.
Gear 4 replaced it later... Luffy took it out early against both Charlotte boys and came back to it. So Wano started with the Kuri fight and continued with Gear 4 usage. Against numbers and even Ulti so of course within a few chapters on the rooftop.
