But the empire is "bending the knee" to buy time right. Like, Tullius also hates and want to fight Thalmor. There's even dialog hinting that the Empire is recooperating its forces and biding time for the inevitable War again. Imo, if the Nords secedes, they'll have their pride. But they'll be too dead for it to matter. (unless i'm missing somethings. im a bit outdated and forgetful on lore)
It's not like I'm fully knowledgeable either.
Yes And I've argued that a United Empire could stand a chance, but because they're so heavy handed in bending the knee that animosity is created.
Just overall bad judgement in leadership.

- As they parade through the capital, Zoro's dad announces that he will be the greatest swordsman in the world
- He then asks where the best swordsman is
- Everyone's shocked because of his bold statement, they never heard anyone say something like this
- A very large crowd forms (shogun also arrives) and some no-name samurai challenges him to a duel (to the death)
- When the battle starts he could barely hold his Katana
- When he finally unsheathes it he remarks how sharp and dangerous it looks
- He tries his best to hit his opponent swinging his sword around wildly and does a bunch of other goofy things
- In an absolutely AMAZING double-page spread we see the fodder samurai pierce Zoro's dad in the chest
- We see Zoro's dad crying while smiling saying some basic shit almost every dying charter says, "At least I tried"
- He collapses with a smile
- We see the whole flower capital ERUPT into laughter while his wife cries
- With the family name tarnished, Zoro's mom leaves secretly on a ship headed to the east blue hoping to start a new life
- She dies after giving birth to Zoro on the ship and Zoro safely reaches Shimotsuki Village
- After finishing the story we return to the present and see Onimaru shocked at Zoro
- In the final page we see Zoro shedding tears
