I don't mind if the anime is older or somethin like that, I watch Hajime no Ippo/Fist of the North Star a lot as well.

The Pros of manga is more detailed artwork + pacing.

Pros of anime is the spectacle

Also I'm planning on reading it on MangaPlus if I decide to go with the Manga. But is there a finished colored version out there?

You gonna end up reading the last 10 volumes on manga since they were never animated. So it's up to you. Either anime + manga or just manga.
