i'm not sold on laffite being stronger than other commanders but i won't enter that debate because we actually know jackshit about BB crew

BlackBeard's crew is like Shank's crew, and that's why they're above the Straw Hats right now: they're very even.

Blackbeard is the most powerful by far, but the Commanders are also very strong, and the people under them are, as well.

Think of it like the Beast Pirates, but with more powerful members

Blackbeard is Kaido; the Blackbeard's Commanders (1st Ship Captain Burgess, 2nd Skip Captain Shiryu, 3rd Ship Captain Van Auger) are the All Stars, and Blackbeard's strongest under-commander-level are the Tobi Roppo

Same with Luffy's Crew, and Shank's Crew
Captain: Shanks: Commanders: Beckman, Roo, Yasopp
Captain: Luffy. Commanders: Zoro, Sanji, Usopp.
The difference is that, eventually as the crew of the Pirate King, the weaker Straw Hats will push themselves and go beyond the Red Haired Pirates and Black Haired Pirates.
