Honestly.....Yamato just became one of the most useless plot characters in the entire One Piece story.
She simply has no reason whatsoever to exist mid raid and don't even leave Wano.

She/he's Oden (?), before exploring the outside world she will explore and learn of Wano first (?)

At the same time rebuild/protect it. That's the best way to make sense of it. But she's for sure returning at least in the final arc, no other place than the crew there, she wants to sail, possibly write her own book or whatever.

Yamato has hardly developed during the course of the arc. This was for the best, I guess. The crew is bloated as is. This is does seem like a hint that they will return once Wano’s borders open later on during the final war. Luffy offering his flag as sort of a tease for their later role as extended allies against the government.
