That's not how it works, Obito is only tangible if he is touching something or his MS is off, Kishi wrote himself into a corner, the same author that had Minato say that Tobi saw through all of his moves but then had Minato defeat him.

it's not always on based if things are touching him or not

in fact he turns it off to absorb people all the time, he touches and holds them, while the Sharing is on
