It was Azula's perfectionism that made her emulate Ozai's ways.

Zuko was actually the lucky one. He was rejected by Ozai for NOT being perfect, this opened up the opportunity for Zuko to get closer with his mom and with Iroh.
And Iroh ended up being the one to save Zuko.

Nah man. There's no rule that states a child can only get the attention of a single parent. Azula had the raw talent. So Ozai raised her to be a weapon to utilise that. But that doesn't justify her own mom neglecting her because of fear.
If anything, she should have tried even more to correct her daughters behavior and teach her humility and humanity.

Don't get me wrong. Azula was not in the right in her later actions. But that all very well might have been avoided. There's a saying "a child that isn't embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it's warmth" Or something like that. If you aren't loved and taught to love others, you will grow up not understanding it's value and importance. And you won't be able to express it either.
