Yeah I think he's potentially closely related to Imu, maybe Cain and Abel type situation.
Might be why he has trust issues too.

Him, Blueno and Doffy all have the sane bracelet too. Doffy has an evil eye theory going round too.

Imu has Holy Knights and Mihawk has a Van Helsing vibe. Romanian/Transylvanian especially but also Spanish and French vibes.

Oda keeps referencing Biblical/Christianity stuff in OP, Mihawk keeps being associated with a cross.

His coffin boat with green candles makes me think of Charon, ferryman of the dead.

Maybe he lost his crew or accidentally murdered them after a possession. Or wa forced to kill them or idk.

Mihawk is the most mysterious and fascinating character for me followed by Vegapunk and Roger too.
