Honestly, how can we be so sure that Lucci and Kaku are completely loyal to CP-0 and the WG, and don't have some kind of hidden agenda?

Remember, these guys were apart of the most skilled infiltration and assassination division of Cipher Pol.... After the events of Enies Lobby, the WG, dubbed them as traitors, and tried to eliminate them.

Nobody finds it the least bit suspicious that they would just so easily return to the World Government, after they tried to have them killed?

I wouldn't be surprised if Oda has different plans in store for Lucci and Kaku being here on this Island, than most fans believe. Oda is not in the business of recycling old villains, to be fought again.

So Imma call it now, and say Lucci and Kaku are only on Egghead Island under the guise of being there to eliminate Vegapunk, but they have something else planned up their sleeve.

Hell I might even go as far as to say that the only reason they came back to the World Government, is because they needed to get close to Vegapunk for some reason, and this was the best way to do so.

I could be completely wrong, but this is the best course of action Oda can take, because as it stands right now, it is kind of nonsensical that they are back with the WG, after they tried to kill them.

I had the same kind of hope you are showcasing here when I saw the cover story I believe it was of them running away from the WG/Marines hunt on them for failing.

I thought that would shake em up and fill some oil in their brains but once Reverie started my lovely bubble bursted.

They are strictly retarded and will listen to anything CDs orders them to do like dogs.

Fuck CP0 ( the former CP9 team I mean ).

it wasn't really the government tho, it was spandam trying to blame them for the enies lobby fiasco. and since spandam is lucci's subordinate now, it makes sense to think that Lucci managed to make his case and be promoted, as the problem was spandam all along and not him.

Nostalgia whores who will praise Oda for showcasing THE PROGRESS STRAW HATS MADE SINCE ENIES LOBBY.

Becuse you know, no weekly reader gets the fact that Luffy and Zoro can one tap Lucci and Kaku now:myman:
With all respect to these who want Lucci and Kaku be super strong, it not going to happen that they even can dream of matching Luffy and Zoro. It not going to happen. Luffy fight a super fight against Kaido where Lucci boss shit is pants alone of thinking of that battle. The another equal member was killed by heavily dead Izo. I think even King alone could legit trash the entire group of them.

They are not anything anymore for the strawhats. Lucci and Kaku get negged if they try to face Luffy and Zoro. Even Sanji and Jinbe murders these guys.

I will fucking giggle if Lucci and Kaku clash with Luffy/Zoro equally.

How fucking down can this manga reach?

But it would make sense they followed the orders if there was something they needed to accomplish, and the only way to do so, was to support the Celestial Dragons for the time being. Like I said, these guys are masters at infiltration. They do whatever it takes to complete their objective.

It’s a 50/50 chance

Don’t forget Oda's golden rule:

plot > logic

He doesn’t give a fuck and just writes a "funny" story
I understand but no. I heavily disagree.

Lucci and Kaku are fucking fodder boss fights from pre timeskip era.

They are not Crocodile or Enel or Kid and Law.

I understand the way you look at it and it would make sense/be good for the readers.

But you know Oda. There are no signs/glimpses of their redemption. We would get a glimpse/panel of Lucci/Kaku questioning CDs orders at least in their heads.

There was no hesitation on their part, they listened like wise dogs.

There are no seeds planted by Oda for their redemption as of yet.

Lucci dedicated his life to the World Government, and executed every order that was given to him without question. He gave them zero reason to question his loyalty, yet they turned their backs on him at the drop of a dime.

Does Lucci really strike you as the type of character who would want to plead his case, and return to an organization that was going to dispose of him without batting an eye?

yes, because it was spandam who sent men against them. the cover story even has lucci call him and basically say "we're coming for you"
and now spandam is the subordinate.

Yes, Lucci said he was coming for Spandam in the context of getting revenge. Something that has yet to happen.
but we saw the two of them together, spandam obeys him now.

if you're the government and Rob Lucci, the man who has a scar shaped like your flag, comes and says "the son of spandam screwed up" why would you believe spandam over him? everyone in those offices knows who got his job because of dad and who got it because of his unbreakable loyalty towards them.

Lucci is a cold blooded killer. Having Spandam simply be his subordinate, hardly seems to be sufficient enough to constitute as revenge for his type of character.
but it's not revenge. Lucci is the opposite of Luffy, he's fine with taking orders. he didn't like spandam but still obeyed him, to the point where he doesn't kill chimney because he didn't get the order to do it. from his perspective he did his job, and the one who failed was spandam, who had authority over cp9.
