Powers & Abilities Physical Strength is as important as Haki

#23
Many times did Luffy have worse haki than his opponents, yet broke through their defences because his physical strength was stronger than their haki defence.

Seems like people are forgetting how important physical strength is. Is the best stat for Kaido, BM and Luffy...along with their haki.

Stop sleeping on Burgess. As long as he has basic hardening (which he does) his attacks will be devastating. If he has strong CoA.....the OPverse is finished.
Power is Strength X Speed X Haki. Burgess severely lacks the other.

Otherwise giants would be king of One Piece right now.

Don’t agree with this line lmfao but I do agree with the spirit of the thread, Burgess lifting a mountain casually probably puts him in the low top tier range given that he already has basic CoA, I doubt Big Mom or Kaido can pull off anything close to this level of strength, Burgess right now might be the physically strongest character in the series.

You have no clue what you're talking about lmao
Thats literally what it is when you look at the bigger picture

He mixes his haki with his Devil Fruit almost perfectly, which massively increases the elastic powers of his rubber body, thus increasing the amount of energy his attacks can release

Not at all. We see guys like Roger who is way weaker than WB somehow compete evenly with him while being outstatted and lacking a DF.

Haki is the end all be all of everything. Its the bs powerup that Oda implements to make "normal" guys able to compete with physical freaks. Roger would somehow kick Kaido's ass too while being way weaker and without a DF and its not like guys like WB or Kaido don't have good haki.

  • The whole compression thing where he sucks his fist inwards and then fires it out
  • The speed component, G4 is far, far faster than G2, more speed = more power
  • The shit ton of haki he uses at once which is why it had a timelimit
You'd either have to be a retard or trolling to ignore all of the above and claim that the difference is just physical strength lmao

The thread is about "strength", people are talking about offensive power here, not about the differences between Gear 2 and Gear 4

Luffy also has quite decent speed feats only in Gear 2, he never desperatly needed Gear 4 to get faster, but to increase his AP and wreck his opponents

As i said initially, the time limit doesn't matter here, but the fact he needed haki to make his Devil Fruit work better and get stronger to boost his AP by a lot

And I was responding to a guy trying to pretend that the difference between G2/G4 is just physical strength, which I just proved to you is bullshit

Don't jump into a conversation that you don't understand

As i said, he is 90% right

Luffy never went Gear 4 cuz he needed to get faster, and even if it did, the final result would still be "more speed = hits harder", which ends up in strength increase anyways

He never used went Gear 4 cuz he needed to block something as well

But he did used it when he realized he saw the chance of beating the shit out of his opponent taking the least amount of time possible despite who they were.

It's objectively not.

An increase in physical strength solely improves your offense. An improvement in Haki improves your offense and defense in more ways than one depending on how your Haki improved.

Burgess can have great AP and it mean absolutely nothing because he's too slow to land anything, or because his Haki is too trash to defend against other characters. Haki has far more utility than physical strength.

Idk why Sanji fans would even want him to fight Burgess. Fruit or no fruit, the dude's already been clowned by Sabo - no DF is gonna remove that shit stain from his record. You really want Sanji's big victory to be the dude Sabo already bodied back when he was high-tier? Aim higher, go for someone with a clean record like Lafitte or Pizarro.
