Every time we hear something like this about the Void Century & World Government, it makes me remember 1984. There's the part where the protagonist just reads a book critical of The Party. It spells out how they came into power...then started retroactively taking credit for past advances. Rewrote history to make their rule look even longer term. Always wondered if we won't just end up finding out the WG pulled a lot of the same stunts.
