My favorite part about these spoilers whether fake or not is that just last chapter Lucci went straight to his hybrid form and strongest pre-ts attack for fighting atlas and even said "this isn't a game" only to immediately get his ass kicked by luffy so bad that he wants to rage quit his mission and leave egghead

After Luffy randomly getting one after getting beaten down again and again by Kaido.
It still doesn't make sense why Kaido never has one.

Luffy randomly getting awakening in Wano kinda reminds me of how Ichigo getting bankai in 3 days in Soul Society. Both are MCs so both get a pass from that.
But imagine the captains in Gotei 13 actually don't have bankais despite already being Captains for years.
Thats what happened to Kaido, BM, King, etc.

While even pre TS opponents like ID beasts have one. While even previous enemy who shitted himself about Kaido has one. While even now, the returning loser of Rob Lucci also has 1.

How come Kaido, the World Strongest Creature, the "in 1 vs 1 always bets on Kaido" guy, the generally agreed by most as previous Top 1 until his downfall, doesn't have awakening...

Then I think about the possible excuse:
- Kaido didn't use Awakening on Wano because he is dividing his stamina on Wano by lifting Onigashima. He can't do both awakening and lifting Onigashima at the same time.
So basically, Wano Kaido was nerfed.
- Big Mom didn't use Awakening, maybe because she is already too old for that. Her old age can't use Awakening anymore, although weirdly she never said or hinted about it during Wano.
- Can't find the excuse for King. But I forget too, whether Katakuri also shown it in WCI.
Still, if the likes of Lucci and Doffy have it, then at very least characters like King and Katakuri should have one too.

Oda can't even use excuses like "too dangerous" like how Yamamoto, Shinji, Urahara, Kyoraku etc iirc couldn't randomly activate their bankai because it would be dangerous to their allies. We know that wasn't the case for zoan awakening.

I don't agree with those excuses because they aren't good writing choices. The point of Kaido is that he is supposed to be intimidating, he is supposed to be the strongest creature, he is supposed to be the biggest foe in the pirate world so he is supposed to be awakened. Not giving him awakening tells me that Oda didn't want to put in the homework needed to make his defeat more believable so he used the most lazy way of writing which is to not even discuss it. Oda simply screwed up, he bit more than he can chew with Kaido so he simply needed an easy exit.
