I'm looking for a shorter anime (around 12 or 24 episodes) with more serious themes, maybe mysteries and death

with good pacing and that makes you really invested with either the plot or the characters (preferably both)

anybody got any suggestions?

Full Metal Panic.
Glass Fleet (though it has some severe 18+ topics).
Heat Guy J.
Burst Angels (if you want girls as protagonists).
Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen (show about Hitmen).

I wasnt either, then when i started watching it i just couldnt believe what i was seeing, i absolutely loved it so i gave it 10/10 lol

Erased is great, i've seen the anime too

The plot kinda reminds of the first game of Life is Strange

another live action i enjoyed is called Re:mind, they made it just as a promo for a idol group or something, yet it was a pretty great binge
