Character Discussion Why Kid's loss is genuinely infuriating and Shanks is a trash, unrealistic utopia character created by the delusional daydreams of a weakling nerd

I hate Shanks, and it's not because of his fans. It's because the entire premise of his character makes me cringe. Shank's entire character is about being a really really nice person that wants everything to be peaceful and for nobody to fight each other. Shanks is a completely unrealistic, deluded depiction of what strong people are actually like in the real world. Even though Oda is writing a battle shounen, he himself has never been a strong person. In school, Oda was a typical passive nerd weakling that hung out with other nerds that all got bullied by people with similar personalities to Eustass Kid (people that were actually tough, fearless and hard working). Oda would daydream, imagining himself as one of those kind badass people you see in generic movies that beat up the bullies and protect their weak friends. Of course Oda never became that type of person , so he created a fictional character to be that person instead, and that's how Shank's was created. Shanks is a character created by the wishful delusional daydreams of a weakling. Oda makes shanks strong because he wants to send a delusional message to the children and nerds reading this manga. That is, being nice makes you strong, whilst being a bully like greenbull or kid, makes you weak. It just shows how disconnected from reality Oda really is, because the truth is, there is not a single strong person in this world that is like Shanks. There is not a single strong person that lets people pour drinks on their head and does nothing like a coward. Everyone in real life with shanks personality is a passive weakling that gets bullied.

Strong people are the ones with the same personality as Eustass Kid. People that are hard working, courageous, ambitious and fearless. People that aim for the very top and will do anything to get there, even if that means tossing their morals aside to dominate and climb above others. People that are ready to take on any challenge required no matter how difficult it may be. People that never give up and keep bouncing back after failing. That is what actual strong people are like. That is Eustass Kid. But despite all that, Oda made shanks win because shanks is a nice guy and kid is not, and that makes me want to f*****g vomit

Kid is the realistic version of luffy , not everyone is as lucky as luffy to get Rayleigh as his haki master before entering New world. Not everyone is blessed with plot armour. Where luffy gets multiple turns even after loosing , Kidd didn't.

Kid barely uses haki , if he had even decent FS he could have Atleast given a mid diff fight to shanks.

Kidd is just dumb, not realistic at all.

Good writing
The same arguments fans had

Why does Shanks has to win? Because he's MC idol and "good leader/guy while Kid is evil

:milaugh:Top tier writing there
Oda accepted to throw away his build ups and narratives for "good guy" narrative wank
It's as simple as it gets. Shanks is the "chapter 1 guy", he isn't gonna lose with his whole crew and giants to an afterthought supernova pirate

Yeah basically stupid writing
Waste of chapter and build ups

There's no need to have Kid vs Shanks if there wouldn't be a real 1v1 battle
If it was just to wank good guy narrative which is silly at this point.

Also Shanks being at Elbaf just when Kid arrived was just too convenient and forced.

he could have made Lid fight admiral or CG in tough battle if he fears having Shanks struggle that much

Shanks sucks, Oda can't seem to know how to write rivals and Villains
That's why Teach now seem underwhelming or average as TOP PIRATE

It's not about being a nice pacifist, but about not abusing your power over others and using it with purpose.

Shanks is so powerful that Higuma breaking a glass on him is the equivalent of a small dog barking at you, you wouldn't get pissed and kick a small dog barking at you because it poses no threat.
Yet he has Roo murder Higuma's men the moment they show they would kidnap and kill a helpless little kid.

Similarly Shanks went from chill to murder mode the moment Kidd showed he would mercilessly kill people far weaker than him without a second thought, with a lot of damage to Elbaf villagers as well probably.

Hard working or not, Kid is still fundamentally a morally dubious character.

Shanks is like a martial artist master who will fight and defend people when the situation calls for it but knows restraint is important, Kid is a black belt who would kick children for showing up at the dojo.

"Kid always gets back up and remains unafraid to challenge those stronger than him no matter how slim the chance is therefore he's cool blah blah"
So is Jack. Kid's most endearing aspect of personality is equivalent to that of Jack's. If you think at some point Oda actually cares more for blind courage than "being nice", as we see how much respect he had for characters like King Riku and Oden (I hate them, mind you), you are most deluded.
