one thing i haven't seen mentioned is the thinly veiled 'let them eat cake' moment in this chapter.

tsuru and sengoku are in a cosy navy cafeteria having a meal. neither has known hunger since they joined the navy (so for most of their lives. tsuru has a well-fed granddaughter who also has a stable income as a marine). tsuru tells sengoku there's a country where a thousand people die of hunger every year...that people would do anything to get their families some food. sengoku doesn't express any compassion or sadness towards these people, he's only thinking about how this might have somewhat uncomfortable consequences for the navy. he then proceeds to bring up - well, no, not cake - rice crackers! we have a new snack available, garp would like it, wouldn't he? let's talk about the snacks we can eat, we, the protectors of the people!

It's disappointing to see Sengoku, a former Fleet Admiral and one of the top brass of the Navy, display such a callous attitude towards the plight of starving people. Instead of showing any compassion or concern for their suffering, he only thinks about the potential inconvenience it might cause for the Navy. It's even more disheartening to know that all the Admirals, including Sengoku, seem to have no interest in helping the people despite being fully aware of their dire living conditions. As protectors of the people, it's their duty to prioritize the well-being of civilians over their own snacking preferences.

I finally had the time to properly read it, what a chapter man! Imho better than the last couple!!

Buggy has balls of seastone to do something like this!!

Do u guys think Croco / Mihawk got angry because Buggy " ruined " their plans or because deep inside they know what he said it's true ?

i thought it was very much in character, coming from the man responsible for the could-be-roger's-baby extermination hunt.
It is disappointing to see characters like Sengoku, who hold such high positions in the Navy, lack basic human empathy and concern for the suffering of others. Instead, they seem more interested in discussing snacks and other trivial matters.

The World Government is responsible for the systemic problems that afflict the world. Therefore, we could say that the admirals are limited in their ability to make significant changes because they obey the government, but the fact here is that they do not show any feelings about these restrictions imposed on them.

They do not show indignation, in fact, they do not even suggest significant changes. If they were outraged by everything that was happening, they could abandon their positions and pursue justice in another way with the goal of helping people, but this does not happen because they have already become accustomed to the government they serve and are simply subordinates to all the evil. That's why Dragon is a much better character than them.

imo, both.

and there's a third reason. remember when he said 'i know you'll probably kill me for saying this but...'? basically, he told them that their insecurities are OBVIOUS TO OTHERS - otherwise he wouldn't KNOW that what he's about to say will anger them. if he wasn't acutely aware of their insecurities, he would just say 'no, that's not what real pirates should be doing!' without even thinking they would take it personally and want to shut him up forever as a result.

The funny thing is that in the future when the baboon handler demonstrates a mid-feat, his sword swallowers are gonna bump threads implying that no one thought he would be strong. Mihawk is a strong character but he is and was never on Yonko level. He is weaker than every single Yonko bar buggy and even then, he's bitch made. No other character has avoided smoke as much as he has yet we're supposed to think this dude is equal to or stronger than Shanks.

Hes one shotting meme.

They do not show indignation, in fact, they do not even suggest significant changes.
issho has shown indignation for some major WG/marine travesties. first - warlords abusing civilians in the countries they are 'managing'. second - the marines obeying the WG (an organization that is meant to guarantee the rule of the fake gods that are the CDs) - issho literally asked a lower-ranking marine a rhetorial question: "is the WG some kind of a god?" (no it's not, ignore its dumb orders - is what he was really saying). third: the navy prioritizing 'saving face' over fixing real problems. fourth - the navy lying to the public.

there are issues issho has not yet tackled but he hasn't been getting a lot of panel time.

he has also suggested and enforced at least some changes.

he has also expressed a desire to 'break the system from within' and little by little, step by step, he's trying to do exactly that.

he does sometimes talk about tasty noodles but it hasn't happened in a situation when someone is informing him of starvation death statistics.

Certainly, that is the reason why Fujitora is considered as the future admiral of the fleet.

personally, i like that mihawk is not a meddlesome person.

i don't like that he's calling buggy a cockroach and beating him up just to feel like he's in control of the situation, tho. i thought him better than that. he also obviously doesn't have coc (unlike buggy).

more about the unreasonable expectations his rabid fans have set for him based on how they speak about him in relation to characters that he shouldn't be comparable to.

As if embarrassing an Admiral and a 3 bil berry pirate wasn’t enough, I can’t believe Oda retconned Buggy and Shanks’ relationship just so he could suck Red Hair’s dick even more. :gokulaugh:
I predict that the final two moves Oda will make to suck Shanks off will be:

- Shanks' sword being destroyed and then Shanks says "finally there is someone who can make me serious"

- Shanks having the title of "World's Strongest Haki User"

---

I'm waiting for these two points :steef:
