Well i use Official comics translation in my country and they said similar to this one. the comics used Word "even" thats a continous word
The full sentence is "even the duel between you and Hawkeye is still news to my ears."

He isnt saying "even the duel between you and Hawkeye was legendary"

And you used the same translation i did. Yours is just cropped.

But it was the continous word man. First sentence was this, "Those 22 years passed by so fast, many consider it a Legend." then WB added " "Even" the Duel between you and Hawkeye is still new to my ears."
the fact that we knew Mihawk Vs Shanks was roughly 12 years ago or even sum said when Shanks rookie years which his rookie year was on this 22 years that already passed, and WB said 22 years were considered as Legend. it means that, WB also include their fight as legend.

If im not mistaken, those "22 years" are in reference to rogers execution. In the current timeline roger was executed 24 years ago. This conversation was from 2 years ago in the pre timeskip. Shanks mentions that he last saw buggy at Rogers execution and Whitebeard is saying that everything in between his execution, till now was so long ago that some consider it legend.

Hes referencing the passing of time from his perspective. "Those 22 years passed by so fast, many consider it a legend." "Even the duels between you and Hawkeye are still new to my ears."

An event from over 12 years ago is still new to whitebeard because 12 years ago isnt that long ago for an old man. But for others its long enough ago that its a legend. Its why he said "many consider it a legend" and not "I consider it a legend".

Its like when an old person says "i remember it like it were yesterday". I doubt whitebeard was excited about a 27 year old billion dollar pirate fighting marine hunter mihawk. Hes just speaking about how time flies.

So from the argue that we talk, Your point was that WB were not excited about a Mihawk vs Shanks despite many consider that the duel was a legend?
Yes.

Legend-

a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated.

Hes saying its long enough ago that some people consider it a legend. But to him, it just happened. Because to an old man, time moves differently. "those 22 years passed by so fast".

Man just agree that the duel was important enough for WHITEBEARD to bring up along side Roger and other legends lol. You are literally nitpicking translated words it's kinda pathetic at this point.

How? Somebody said the duels excited whitebeard because he called them a legend.

All i did was bring up that whitebeard wasnt excited. Why does that upset you?

I mean he brought up that fights of all other fights that Shanks have fought, which means to him it's interesting. What's there to even nit pick lol. It's pathetic man.
How am i nitpicking. I even called mihawk a legend in this post.

Its one piece. Characters dont even fight often. And when they do, word doesn't always get out. In that same chapter shanks had to tell whitebeard that he and blackbeard fought.

I doubt whitebeard went through his lexicon of all shanks battles and specifically chose the mihawk duel. Its probably the oldest fight he could reference for shanks.

So you think that, Whitebeard, while mentioning all these legends in the past 22 years, then mentioned the duel between Shanks and Mihawk with the "even your fight....", didn't consider it a legendary duel? It's basic English that most people who read it will think that way, that Whitebeard also considers it a legendary fight.
Why does Shanks being young even matter, i mean Whitebeard of all people were shocked when Shanks came back from East Blue losing a hand. Would people have given the same reaction to King, Jack, Katakuri?

Someone on this post said whitebeard was excited by the duel. Im telling you and anyone else, that was never indicated.

Whitebeard is using legend as it is defined

"a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated."

Unauthenticated. Meaning "not proven" or "rumor". Whitebeard begins talking about those 22 years because shanks says he hasnt seen buggy since the execution (22 years ago). So whitebeard says those 22 years are basically legend (see above definition). Even shanks duel with mihawk is considered a legend to many, but to him, it is still new.

Hes clearly saying that, to others, everything in those 22 years was so long ago that they cant confirm it even happened. That includes the duels of mihawk and shanks. But for him, an old man, it was just yesterday. Nowhere in his dialogue did he say he was excited. Nowhere.
