kishimoto had to nerf kisame (by making him lose the samehada) because he realized he was practically invincible with it.
kisame fused with the samehada can regenerate as long as he has chakra, and in addition to having an absurd amount of chakra, he can absorb the opponent's chakra. the only way for gai to win would be if he opened the eighth gate, and since kishimoto was saving it for the fight with madara, he had to nerf kisame.

Itachi is the exact definition of a Mary Sue and is Kishimoto’s Shanks to Oda. If Kishimoto were to square him up against Juudara and Kaguya together he’d find a way to extreme-diff them.

Nope, I oppose this. Itach is a very qualified character with many W's and praise, but he is not a Mary Sue. Itachi self admits he's failed several times and has flaws, arrogance, a flexible moral system and short sightedness being among them.

Minato is up there too, HOWEVER Minato was called a failure and humbled several times during the war. Humbled by Tobirama, humbled by Juubito both physically and verbally, failed to save Naruto by having Zetsu yeet Kurama from him, getting outdone by Might Guy in saving Kakashi.
Minato experienced plenty of failures and embarrassing character moments during the war. He’s not a Mary Sue imo.
