and afterward have the final matchup of the series against someone that slugged it out with aokiji for ten days.

am looking at it in context of who the final villain should be
it cannot be an admiral, they are simply too underwhelming for that.

Yeah, obviously an admiral isn't going to be Luffy's end of series fight.

I can see an admiral being Sanji's EoS fight though. For a long time, I had thought that it would be Greenbull or Kizaru

How I see it:
Chapter cut out with serious Fuji, next chapter Sabo leaves the castle and we see Karasu and Morley defeated, Sabo saves them and became the fire emperor. Sabo got the most hype during reverie yet in this chapter he didn't had much focus against the admirals with means that his hype will come later.
Since I think next chapter is also about the reverie.

Would make sense. So far Sabo did nothing to warrant his hype.
Or maybe Sabo blocks Fuji’s move with some flame barrier.

the biggest problem with imu and the gorosei was also structure
you had imu and older politicians but they were 5 in number
didnt quite matchup . you now have 9 characters introduced as combatants capable of causing mass destruction . been around for centuries prob as a last resort for imu and kept as a mystery for most of the story. Since they are completely in the shadows , oda can make them as strong as he wants them to be without being a contrarian.

Not either, but both.
BB is the villain for the PK race.
Imu is the villain for the post PK war.

Maybe Oda is trying to genuinely hype them to be strong, but they’re so shit it just ends up looking like admirals struggling against vet level scums,

I don't think the holy knights are all top tier. Maybe the leader (I predict the Shanks lookalike) could be, but not others.

The issue with them being all top tier is that it would completely kill any semblance of the story making sense. If all these 9 guys are top tiers, they should've taken out all the Yonkos

But yes, I see the structural issue. How could an admiral be involved in final matchup, when it's presumably going to be against Imu + his guys.

But them again, if they are all super powerful, then who can taken them on? I can see monster trio, Sabo, Dragon being top tier by end........and that's only 5.

Never said Akainu was the main or final antagonist anyway. I don’t think Luffy is fighting one single guy during the war and that’s it

Some more issues I see with admirals "struggling" against revo commanders, assuming that was the case.

- no 3 of Revo, Ivankov, was low diff'd by Magellan and then no diff'd by Akainu
- no 2 of Revo, Sabo, was played with by Fujitora. And this was after he ate fire DF. To be noted is that even pre-DF Sabo was the no 2 of Revos

they would vary as commanders do ofc
its in their interest to have yonkos though. they bring a certain form of order. since they are completely in the shadows oda can do essentially what he wants.
