My random thought:

I was re-reading "last" chapters and something came to my mind.

So Imu forced someone 800 years ago, to use the fruit on him and thereby deprive him of life and gaining mmortality?!?!?

When you look at it this way, it almost looks like some kind of sacrilegious ritual, and it seems pretty fucked up.

:crazwhat::kawak::believe::crybeard:
what if someone used it on imu out of their own free will?

I don't rule it out - but if Imu wasn't an evil ass from the beginning - it would mean that after all these years his mind started to bend.

'You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain…' type of case.

:cheers::steef::finally::crazwhat::pepebusi:
what if a parent used it on baby imu? and then it all went to shit because imu grew up to be evil?

or maybe imu was mostly decent at first and got ope-ope'd by someone who believed he will save the world (for example) but eventually power got to his head

at least i hope oda doesn't go the 'he's so evil he forced someone to use ope ope on him against their will!' route

Whoever made the Ope Ope no Mi is a psychopath, who wanted to be able to play with people's bodies, personalities, and gain immortality.
The devil fruits were creates by human desires. The ope ope fruit was created by the desire to live forever but there has to be a downside, so this desire really brings out the worst in people.
