The more and more I think about it the more this whole thing is a set up for Smoker.

Was noticeably left out of the rescue Coby crew while Tashigi was included.

Luffy and crew meet Vegapunk who knows Smoker.

Kuzan mentioned normal marines aren't allowed to engage Yonko crews without authority to do so

Kuzan is the one to fight and beat Garp (with help)

Marines including Tashigi likely to be captured.

Marines are spread thin due to revolutionary army so they're not going to bother sending a huge army to retrieve Garp and Coby.

Like each step of this leads to Smoker and Luffy teaming up.

Smoker doesn't give a shit what the higher ups tell him if Tashigi is in trouble and they say they're not going to save her Smoker will say fuck this I'm going myself we know that's his character.

Vegapunk is the key to Luffy and Smoker meeting up again. I think the line on PH when Luffy said it's not worth fighting unless Smoker can use his full power is for this moment also Smoker with new powers and stronger haki will be a monster for any YC and possibly Kuzan.

Smoker vs Kuzan would be one for the ages friend vs friend, Marine vs Marine/Pirate, Logia vs Logia, a lot of Smoker's inner conflicts about being a Marine and his distrust to pirates will be resolved here I believe.

I think they will, but again the idea of Momo to grow to surpass Oden in such a short amount of time is insane. If Momo surpasses Oden it’ll be some epilogue thing but he won’t do it during the actual story narrative.

It is insane i can admit, but narratively oda could make it happen... we left wano knowing that awakening is when mind/body catch up with df power and yet we still wonder if kaido was awakened...kaku after two years awakened his fruit... we have no clue the benefit that could come from momo having yamato as his master when it comes to him using his df and attaining awakening,haki, or what craziness could come from ama no habakiri... enma literally made zoro realize that going all out was key to controlling it and he unleased adv coc we do not know how ama no habakiri will test momo,but he will for sure be stronger after.

2. He can't do anything to kuzan. Now maybe his awakening (smoker) allows him to be the perfect smoke bomb and that way he could escape or help the others escape. So there is some usefulness there. But a full flegde fight? He needs to bring tsru and sengoku with him

The only way to stop the massacre is for Minato or any other Hokage to have been present. It’s clear Hiruzen couldn’t prevent it and was even holding out for discussions until the last minute.

Whatever solution there was for the would be coup, it was so far back that none of the key participants in the massacre had any chance at resolving it peacefully
