Powers & Abilities Roger isn’t a swordsman

#21
Why isn't there any iconic or famous cutting feat for Roger?
Why isn't there any sword style?

Instead we get his skyplitting feats and elbaf inspired move which Shanks also uses now

I think Roger and Shanks are swordsmen but they are different than Mihawk/Ryuma
Shanks is a swordsman (even though Oda hasn't stated he's one ..nor has Shanks claimed to be one)

Roger on the other hand isn't a swordsman
You'd have to claim BM is one too

This is like a Schrödinger's cat.

However, even if one can make a case that Roger or Shanks aren't actually swordsmen, what's shown from them is leaning to the fact that they are swordsmen.

Asking for a cutting feat...
Asking for a swordstyle...

Well before you even ask for that...
What's Roger's or Shanks' brawling feat btw?

The only named attack we see from Roger or Shanks is when they used a sword.
The only time we see Roger clash against who's considered his equal, Primebeard, he was using a sword.
Same with Shanks. Did Shanks stopped Akainu using a hakified fist? Or was it with a sword?

Also, using "air bars" that uses internal destruction doesn't mean they aren't swordsmen. Zoro used a no-touch COC explosion too, against King.

Right now, there's more evidence that Shanks and Roger are both swordsmen.
So until Roger or Shanks shows their hidden moves that doesn't use a sword, they are swordsmen.

So odd comments. "He picked the sword at 25(arbitrary number but whatever) he isn't a swordsman. Is this the new mojo?

Do you need to be one in infancy?
So he presumably changed his style mid journey but because he didn't fight with one from the start(However the fuck you know that) he isn't a swordsman... A 30+ year piracy with the sword doesn't matter.

New lows every day Jo,new lows.

Oda already explained it with King situation that a swordsman is a person who call himself that and uses traditional sword style
if they don't call themselves swordsmen or don't use traditional sword fighting, they aren't swordsmen

There's literally no reason to keep discussing this.

You can just swordguzzlers why wasn't Roger called WSS and they will be unable to answer it and try to deflect

BM picked napoleon when she was 42 and other random swords before that
She changed her fighting style mid journey
Same way Roger did

In fact they didn't change really, since BM could still brawl and use other means

Oda didn't say shit like that.
No one said king wasn't a swordsman.
King himself said he loved sword duels.

I guess mihawk isn't a swordsman because he doesn't use traditional sword fighting like zoro and wano lmfao

Who said Roger was ? It could have been rox
We don't know who was the wss then

I think Roger and Shanks are swordsmen but they are different than Mihawk/Ryuma
Roger and Shanks unironically are different than Mihawk and Ryuma because, first, they have never been addressed as dai-kengou in this story (Zoro doesn't dream of becoming the strongest swordsman per se but the strongest dai-kengou, an important nuance often ignored by translators and a fandom that only relies on translations instead of original content); and second, they don't aim at duelling their way to the top of the field of swordsmanship (which is exactly what Ryuma, Mihawk and Zoro had in common and what is likely involved in turning your sword black since it's a common Japanese trop).

The amount of canon information in this manga supporting that this issue isn't as simple as "carries a sword = swordsman" is undeniable, but people here, let's say simple readers, don't want to accept it since their vision is easier and more comfortable.

Oda didn't say shit like that.
Actually he said exactly like that

No one said king wasn't a swordsman.
Except Pinzoro, whose whole shtick is knowing everything about swordsmanship and what makes a swordsman

King himself said he loved sword duels.
Which further proves that liking to fight with a sword =/= swordsman
I guess mihawk isn't a swordsman because he doesn't use traditional sword fighting like zoro and wano lmfao
Stop lying as if you can tell a traditional form in this manga.

Swordsmanship is one of the worst things in this manga that is underdeveloped to the point that everyone looks the same despite using different number of swords or different style.
Like there's supposed to be a difference between two-sword style and Oden-two sword style, yet they are identical
Who said Roger was ? It could have been rox
Rox alive in Roger's era?
We don't know who was the wss then
Exactly, if it wasn't Roger who was the strongest with the sword, that means WSS is a literally a nobody title that can be held by a literal who

wait wait wait, so since Zoro said he will even bite King's throat if it means winning does that now mean Zoro is not a swordsman but a throat bitting man?
