Definitely foreshadowed, but poorly executed imo.

It still felt like Deus ex machina that ressurects the main character.

I had the same feeling with G5 that i felt with ichigo's vasto lorde transformation from his fight with ulquiorra.

I am of the same opinion. OP isn't that complicated dude, Oda is just having fun and while I enjoy the story most of the time, it's ok for me to criticize some parts when I don't like it.

It kinda wasn't. One piece is just huge now. I feel like Oda does so much to have people react to Zoro's fights but Luffy does such amazing feats and nobody really reacts to it in the story. Dude split an island with doflamingos face and nobody mentions it. Super sayian had kids powering up to this day. There's plenty of other transformations that shaped anime more like ttgl, ruroni kenshin when he turned to butosai or however you pronounce it. Even urameshi being a demon lead to one of the most fun arcs in anime history. Even g4 could have been done better if Oda focused on luffy being this hulking bouncing creature rather than just have him do generic moves in ever movie and scene. It's just not that hype. Infact the monster trio just sitting of a ledge watching their subordinates fight greenbull was more hype. Oda goes from badass Luffy in a cape to chibi round face luffy in science hear its hard to take him serious since the art change pretimeskip. Luffy doesn't even have abs anymore.

Yes Oda is having fun, but he is doing it in a way that surpass all type of fiction in the world. Its not perfect, but its up there. I'm just sad that you guy are missing one of the best part of his storytelling because of your expectations.

The deep value in term of storytelling of One Piece is not something we "think" its narrative facts. There is a reason why some people who teach storytelling are interested in this show.

Storytelling is my expertise, I've studied that all my life so yeah.. I know a little bit more about it that the lambda guy in here. There is no "arrogance" in that post rather than a whim to actually share the knowledge I have and extend it to a simple school subject.

I guess I was too optimistic in the fact that people would be receptive indeed. But I'm not losing hope.
